I had a problem where some phones, the person on the other
end can hear you but you can not hear them.

These came off of two switches from Nortel.

I took one phone that did not have the one-way transmission
and connected it to the other switch.

This phone still worked fine.

I then started disconnecting and reconnecting phone that had the problem and the problem went away.

What will cause this problem?

I have noticed that sometimes after a reboot the phones will show as "Fail Over" under "Registration Reason" in the "Maintenance and Diagnistics/IP Telephones/Programmed Telephones" section of the ESM. If this is the case, I often see 1 way audio among other problems with these phones. The easiest way to fix this issue is to reload the phones (I usually just perform a "Load 1 3 1","Load 1 3 2" etc. since it usually involves several phones.). Hope this helps some.

Just out of curiousity, what release is this? We have had a couple sites report similar issues to 1 way audio, where the only way to correct the problem was to reboot the set. I think one of those sites is running 5.2.6.8. I haven't done too much research on it yet.
