One report creates many pages/prints multiple times

I created some pie chart reports from a table in my database, and when I view the report it shows multiple pages even though the report is limited to one page. (I checked the margins, etc.)

When I page through the extra pages I simply see more copies of the same (one-page) report. Of course, when I go to print the report it begins to print ALL pages. In one case the printer queue had scrolled to 1350 before I canceled it.

I've never experienced this problem before. Why would a one-page report duplicate itself with many, many pages and print multiple times?

Kerryl,
I am not sure if this is the problem but check your report properties and make sure there is no recordource. Access will print a graph for every record in your recordsource. If you have any other information that you would like to display in the detail section you could put the graph in the report footer or group footer whichever applies. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you Eric. That worked, but I have a problem:

The report is based on a date range which is keyed in by the user. The user is prompted for a begin and end date when the report is opened. The date range prompt originates in the query, so that the query can filter the data accordingly.

The begin and end date entries are also used on the report in a line of text that shows the reporting period. Without it, the person looking at the report wouldn't know what range of data he/she is looking at.

So if I remove my Record Source from the report properties, the text fields that are used in the Reporting Period part of the report no longer work. (#Name?)

For the time being I can make sure only Page 1 is printed, but I really do need the date range displayed on the report. If it can come from something other than the query itseld so the report Record Source is no longer required, I don't know how to do it.

Hope that all makes sense. If it does, and anyone has an idea, please let me know. Thank you.

Kerryl,
Leave the recordsource there so you can display the date range but put the chart in the page footer. Then just size the sections as necessary to get the formatting right.

Oooh, that's sneaky! :)

I'll try it. Thank you!
