Hi guys!
please help me, I was trying to understand Illustrator Sample Art from Adobe Illustrator library. I opend the file intituled Crystal but I did not undestand how they made the shadow for the colored balls inside de cup. Thank you guys.

...those are created using a gradient fill...

...you can click on one with the direct select tool (white arrow), then view the gradient palette (window > gradient)...

...in this palette are color steps at the bottom that can be moved left or right...

...if you double click on one it opens the color palette...

...you can add more color steps by clicking anywhere between steps, you can change the color in the color palette or by dragging and dropping a color from the swatches palette to a color step...

...swatches can be found by choosing window > swatches...

...apart from two elements (made by the gradient mesh tool, U key) most of this is made by gradient filled objects, made using the pen tool (P Key)...

...you can also change the direction/angle of a gradient using the gradient palette, or a more flexible approach can be achieved using the gradient tool (G key), and simply dragging over a selected gradient filled object or objects...
