Hi everyone,

I'm using customized a short cut menu in forms and reports. On it is a print button. If you press it, it will open the print dialog box (where I got the button from, I don't know). But if I drag the standard print button from the Customize/Commands dialog to my shortcut menu and use it, it doesn't show the print dialog box...it just starts printing everything to the default printer. How can I make a print-button open the print-dialog?

I take it you have a working button and that your reason for wanting to move the other button over (the standard one) is that maybe you liked the icon better? If you like the image of the standard button better, you can right click the toolbar and select Customize>Copy Button Image. Then right click your custom button and select Paste Button Image, and Voila!

Hope this helps...

Hi ThomasLafferty,
Tnx for the reply, but that is not the case. I have two print buttons that look the same (with two identical icons) but they do different things. The one button is opening the printer dialogbox where you can select a printer and so on, and the other starts printing right away. The first print button can be found in the standard shortcut menu of a report. The second is the one you drag and drop if you are customizing a menu or toolbar. I want the print button of the first kind, but I don't know how to get in into a customized toolbar of shortcut menu. Hope you understand the problem, it's a bit fuzzy.

Just an update,
I found that the print option/button in the standard Menu Bar (MenuBar/File/Print...) also shows the print dialog first before starting to print. So that is the place where you can copy it from if you want to use it in a toolbar or shortcut menu bar.

Still strange why the one print option/button start with a dialog, while the other print button out of the Customize Dialog starts printng right away.

Sounds as if you have solved the problem, no?

Hi ThomasLafferty,
Yes the problem is solved, or better: worked around. The matter is futile, but still.

It looks like there are two types of print buttons around if you want to make a customized toolbar of shortcut bar, one that prints directly, and one that shows the print dialog box. If you pick the one from the Menu/File/Print, it will show the dialogbox. If you pick it from the CustomizeBox it starts printing right away to the default printer. That's it.
Anyway, tnx for the assistance.
