Hello all,

Enquiring minds want to know.....

I have one pc connected to a domain.
Can that same pc connect to another domain.

Any info is greatly appreciated

Have a super day

No NT and above can only be a member of one domain at a time, if you need them to access resources in another domain then you will need to create a trust.

When you are the IT director, it's your job to make sure the IT works. If it does work they know already and if it doesn't, they don't want to hear your pathetic excuses.

If you can't create the trust (politics? Consultant? etc.) you could dual boot it and have a partition on the PC that both O/S's can access.

But no simple way really.

Although if you know how to you could create an account in the 2nd domain and whenever you try to do something use the Run As.

Or if you just want to access data on the other domain's servers, you can map a drive to each server but you will have to have a seperate account in the other domain and you will have to specify the seperate credentials when you are mapping the drive. If you want seemless authentication, trusts is the way to go.

"Connect" and "be a member of" are two different things.

Can a PC be a member of 2 different domain at the same time? NO.

But, a PC can access shares and data on an unlimited number of domains. As long as a user has credentials to access said share or data, then they can access. Keep in mind, NO policies will download to the machine or user if they are not a member. You'll need to have other controls in place if you wish to have any kind of control over this PC.

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

I agree with TheLad, mapping is the way to go, and if your account name and password are the same in both domains then the connection will appear seamless after initial setup.

P.S. This assumes that all the routing has been taken care of in advance so that you actually have access to both domains.

David.
