We have one Internet address and need to have 2 servers talk on it. We would like to have the address translated depending on the port specified by the visitor (a machine on the internet). Is this even possible, and if so how?

Thanks!

Peter

HI.

The latest (6.x) OS versions of pix support this, but it is still preffered to use a different ip for each server.

Read the cisco docs relating to your pix os, take a close look on the "static" command.

Search also this forum for older messages, you'll see some discussions about this and some pix admins that had bad experience with that feature.

sure you can do a static nat translation. We some thing similiar we use a static 1 to 1 translation.

Thanks--I'll look at static more closely. I'm doing a 1-to-1 static now, but couldn't quite figure out the 2-to-1. We'd love to have 2 ip addresses, but have been told that we can't.

If you have a definate need for more IP addresses then you should be able to get them from your ISP. We have our customers fill out a technical survey form and RIPE allocation sheet when they apply for IP addresses so that we can see what they propose to use them for.

Speak to your ISP and tell them what you would like to do.

Chris.
