Any body knows about DEFOX please post advantage/disadvantage

There is a DEFOX, that was designed to encrypt and protect VFP6 executables from being ReFoxed... no exp. of either I'm afraid.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

From what I found I remember, it's from Leonid, who was a well know in the newgroups community, while there was one. And it's written in VFP6, but capable to encrypt any VFP EXE.

I don't need and use such tools, either my work is open source, eg what I post in forums, or it's paid including sources.
Setmics does only do custom software, no horizontal nor even vertikal market product you'd need to protect against competitors, perhaps. Acutally you could think this way even for a specialised product for a single customer, but the value of our business relationship is not in the code, but the knowlegde surrounding all the applications we do, so there is llittle lost, if others get hands on our code.

Bye, Olaf.

I couldn't agree more. It's mainly why I don't usually worry about decompilation.

Yes, I experienced vfp executables protected by defox can not refoxed. But it does not means that other decompilers don't decompile it. What is your comment ?

What do you mean " I'm afraid " It's not safe ?

Thanks & Best Regards.

I have no idea if it is 'Safe' the term 'I'm afraid' in this instance was by way of an apology for not knowing anymore about DeFox and/or ReFox.

I do not imagine there are many people out there writing a decompiler for VFP which is designed to break the encryption of DeFox, and the target market is probably pretty small - so why would they?
