One MM System; Multiple PBX's

Afternoon,

We're working on a large pbx upgrade that will have to be done in stages. The vm integration is back to one MM domain with four MAS's. That integration is currenly dse, but we'll be going to qsig.

Is it possible to take one mas out of the current pbx trunk group, put a qsig card in it, build a new trunk group for it, change the integration on it and have it work during the transition?

All of the Doc's say that it will not work and i have never tried it but it looks like it might work just not sure.

After you set the type of pbx in the vmd it will let you add a 2nd type and then it may let you change the pbx type under the mas and the PBX integration type.

I theory is would work as long as you don't use any of the ports for MWI or change them to just use that mas for mwi.

If it is an upgrade why not just stay with dse until it is done.?

That's kinda what I was thinking...

It's about 3500 users currently on a nortel and going to another non-avaya type pbx...but the messaging is going to stay the same.

We're trying to avoid doing them all at once because of the day one meltdown that would ensue(we have 3500 vip's, if you know what I mean).

I'll give it a try and see what happens....If it works I'll update the string.

This "CAN" work, but is completely unsupported by Avaya. You also have the big issue of MWI and when to switch that to QSIG (requiring all the station LWC reception to change) as well as when to change over users to the new coverpath. It will seem like there are 2 voicemail systems even though the same one is being used. I hope you aren't going to be in this transition for very long as it is a big headache when trouble arises.
