Am I correct in assuming that I can't install XP on more than one computer?

You can't have the same XP with the same CDKey activated in more than one PC at the same time.

You can however use the same installation CD on various PC's provided you have enough valid CDKeys for each PC you want to install into.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

What if I have to reformat and do a fresh installation after having installed once before? This has happened to me a couple of times in the past.

Unless you've changed hardware nothing will happen. It will register like when you first installed it. If you updated some hardware you might have to call Microsoft to register your copy but not that big of a deal.

You just can't install it on more than one machine at the same time.

Cheers
Rob

If you format and reinstall its still the same PC. So its valid.
