I have installed a network for an organisation with 50 users, running NT Server. The network runs very stable and is running in perfect shape. I formated and reconfigured a host PC and put NT Workstation on it.
While i was copying the original data to the server the copying procces stopped and took the entire network down, as well as instantly restarting the server as if the reset switch was pressed.

I tryed repeating the same process 3 times with each time the same result. I have noticed that it always stuck there when it got to a certain file called "callender".(2.7mb)

I am quite baffled as to why this is happening. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

My specs are: SERVER: "File server"
2X Pentium III
dual scsi 90gb
NT Server 4.0 SP-6a
3com 10/100 network card
Using DHCP
TCP/IP, NET-BUEI installed
Workstation: NT Workstation 4.0 sp-6
Pentium 3- 600eb

Sounds like it is hardware somewhere. First couple of things I would do is to change the NIC and then try different RAM. I know this is NT, but I had a scsi hard drive do this to me on a Novell 5 server. The server would run fine, until I send a lot of data to the server. I put a bus mastering NIC and then changed the hard drive out. It runs fine now. Sounds kinda like the same problem.
Another ? for ya, will the server do the same if same data is sent from another workstation? If it works fine there, then I would try the NIC in the orginal workstation you were copying the data from.
Hope this helps. A+ MCP
