I have 2X 160 GB Hitachi Sata HDs in Raid0 array(Promisse Fast Trak Controller on MB). It was used as video drive and worked very good for 2 years. Trying to add one more drive on Pata controller, I probably moved/touched/hit something and after that my array stopped working. If I enter raid configuration utility, it shows one drive as ok and other failed or not connected. The strange thing is that if I connect any of the two, it will recognize it and show as ok. So I guess, nothing is wrong with any of the drives physically. Is there any chance to recover files from this.

If you just want to recover the files, and you have access to the drive, you can run file scavenger It costs about fifty dollars for a license. I have used it, and it works great. I recovered my external HD after formatting. Keep in mind that this solution is purely for recovering files, and not guaranteed to make your config work.

Thanks Smiley124, I already have data recovery software which also saved my external hard drive, but it wouldn't work before both drives are accepted in Promise raid configuration utility.

You could try to delete the drive array and then go to rebuild. I had a similar problem with 4 raid 0 drives, deleted the array and then went into delete and rebuild. Rebooted the machine and all was back to normal. I could do this as I had two complete backup systems, so nothing to loose. But as I said it was unnecessary to use my backup. Good luck

Thanks Jurgen,
Sounds very simple. I always have a backup normally, but this time I 'just wanted to do something' before backing it up. I guess, I will go with 4 new drives and 0+1 array in the future.
Thanks a lot again.
