One day task gets scheduled over two days

I have a task that its duration is 1 day.

I want it to begin on May 8th and finish on May 8th, but when I type in the
info it forces it to finish a day late (May 9th).

This messes up all the tasks after it, pushing all of them a day later than
they are due.

Please HELP!!!!

Lots of possibilities here.

Perhaps the resource you are assigning or have assigned is set to a maximum of 50%.

Perhaps you have a half-day in the project or task or resource calendar for that resource.

Perhaps the task is scheduled to start part way through the day (because a predecessor task did not finish at the exact end of a day).
