We have a client who runs Sage Accpac 300 (two databases) on a Terminal Server. One of the databases is noticeably faster than the other in terms of logging into the database, running special crystal reports we set up for them, internal sage reports, batch entry the whole nine yards.

We can only assume this has something to do with the setup of the database in the SQL Management Studio? If so what do we look for in their?

If you don't think that is the case not sure what we are looking for here since the same program runs both databases.

Any input or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Are both dbs on the same SQL server? Look in database setup.
Check Customization Directories, most often an incorrect path in the Customization Directory is the cause of many speed issues.

Thanks Ettienne for the input. Yes to answer your question the databases reside on the same SQL server and there are no entries in the Customization directory for Admin Services.

I am guessing some switch or setting in Management Studio that is different between the two.

Is one database larger than the other? Have you re-built SQL indexes? You might look at profiling tools to see how the same query from each company is being handled.

Thanks DjangMan. Ironically the slower database is the smaller one. Go figure. No I haven't re-built the indexes. Was trying to avoid that hoping it was a flag or switch that was different in the Management Studio.

But that appears to be where we are heading.
