"One at a time" access to mail

Hi, I have a Merlin Legend phone system with a Merlin Mail R3, four port system. I have all four ports conmnected to the Legend, with all four extensions included in the coverage group (#770). However.... Only one person can be connected to the Merlin Mail at any one time. If someone is leaving a message in a mailbox, for example, no-one else can access their boxes, or if someone is checking their messages, no outside caller can be redirected to a mailbox. The Mail system gives a ringing tone, but with a little 'beep' tagged on to the end of it. Anyone know what I've done wrong?

Calling group 770 includes four extensions, 30, 31, 32 & 33. I see them all listed in "inspect". If I dial 30, 31 or 33 from any phone, I get a "Welcome to Merlin Mail". If I dial 32 it just rings and rings.

I went out and watched for activity on the unit. On ports 1, 2 and 4 (exts 31, 31 and 33) the green light flashes when I dial, then it goes off and the red light comes on when the system answers. On port 3 (ext 32), the green light flashes when I first dial, but then comes back on again. No activity at all from the red light.

Strangely, I now seem to be able to have three connections at once to the system, but I'm sure I didn't change anything, so it looks like this is a different problem.

Sounds Like the port card is difective could be the mail or the system swap 33 for 32 at the mail and if 32 works now the mail is bad. I can probably get or fix your card for you wodell_l@swbell.net I will need to know the REV # or letter on the card next to the LED.
