Customer wants to upgrade ACS system from Partner Mail VS to Partner Messaging. Due to lots of messages still residing on the old PMVS, the upgrade is delayed. Carrier has 2 spare slots.

Can I install new PMess module in spare slot, cut-over to it by updating the port assignments, and tell users to access old messages by dialing the extension of the old PMVS? Or will the ACS processor get confused by having two voice mail systems installed simultaneously?

Thanks.

My GUESS is you'll be ok - don't forget to turn off ringing on the station ports of the old voice mail - we have routinely left 1 port from the old voice mail system active on a Partner but it was a third party voice mail - not (2) partner modules - try it and let us know!

You will need to either remove the lines completly or at least turn the ringing off for the old voice mail. However, since the ports are no longer in Hunt Group 7, I betting that intercom calls to the old VM ports will be intercepted by the infamous "Transferring to Operator" message, as they will come without mode codes.

As Tommy said you will get the old "Transferring to Operator" Your best bet is to have them get there messages off and take out the old and put in the new.
