A few years back I got an MCSD for Visual Basic 6. I'm considering the same with the .NET Framework.

Are you considered an MCSD or MCSE for life once you earn one? If you receive a newer certification of the same type, do you get a new card from Microsoft?

I'm just curious how this all works because there was a day when Microsoft would stop recognizing prior certs and requiring people to continually earn the latest cert.

Thanks...

As far as I understand, once you become a MC--- you are that forever but in the case of MCSA if I got it in 2000 I would still have my MCSA in 2000 even after the exams get retired but it would then be up to me/whoever to place value on it in the enviroment to determine if it held any weight in your/their eyes.

Unlike Cisco where you must stay current by every so often recertifying. HTH
