I have an onboard soundcard. Can I configure RH 6.0 or Caldera Openlinux 2.2 to recognise it?

Depends on your sound-card... I have a C-Media on-board card on one of my workstations that is running RH6.0 and it worked perfectly out of the box, no extra config was required.

On redhat 6.0, run sndcfg and it will try to detect it... I think that is the name of the binary, otherwise, as root, do

find / | grep bin | grep snd

and you should see somethign like taht...

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions.:)

If you need information on hardware you feel should be detected via pnp do pnpdump and it will dump information on all plug-n-play devices.

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.
