Onboard AC'97 Audio V's Soundblaster 128 PCI Card

Hello

I am using the Soltek SL-75DRV5 KT333 mainboard which comes with a sound chip built in apparently Providing AC'97 Audio.

My question is: would I get better sound performance from my Creative soundblaster 128 PCI card?

Details of my board are as follows:

Athlon 1800XP, 256MB DDR RAM

Soltek SL-75DRV5 KT333


Chipset
VIA KT333 (VT8367 + VT8233A)

VT8367:

Probably yes - but why don't you just try it and see what you think?
 
No! but it will free up system resources and make you PC run quicker.
Especially when gaming, this tends to be the time you PC is working hardest and the additional drain of supporting on board audio can slow those frame rates down, a seperate audio card will help in this area. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.
 
Thanks for your advice guys, ill keep the SB for a separate system - I was only looking for a dramatic improvement, if avaliable.
