Hi,

Kindly help me all necessary steps required to get connection with option 11C on the site.

With best regards,
HVehari

you should see a cable plugged in to a port under the left side of the main cab. it is the only one that has 4 rs232 tails, the one marked 0 is from the factory a mct term, the speed is the switch setting on the front of the ssc card. that goes to a dumb term or a pc with hyper term or procomm using speed, 8 none and 0ne stop bit. a return will give you a >.. logi return default password is 0000 return. if that pass don't work your not getting in. after 3 attempts (normal) your locked out, even with a pass word for 24 hours (normal) both of these can be changed..

John, I have an 11C that has only 3 tails on it, is this a different cable and can I get a cable that has 4 tails? Also there is an Aux serial connection on the backplane, wht can I use this for?

I am also trying to set up a ELNK for remote connection, can this be done, any advice?

Thanks

Mike

The 3 cable one will work as well. although to connect to a laptop/pc you will need to use a null modem.
cable 0 is usually used as access to the switch and as John says the speed is set on the front of the ssc.

You can set up ELNK but will depend upon the rls of the switch. Although you won't be able to telnet directly to the switch.

Easiest to connect one of the TTY's to some sort of tracker box. we use datatrack to access ours.

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

correct on all counts, you'll need a serial server like he said to plug that rj21 into to telnet to the term. hope you got in ok

Thanks u 2. I guess I am trying to get to cute with the link on ELNK. Will use a serial terminal interface. Unfortunately all three serial interfaces are being used for other things. If I get a 4 port cable will this automatically give me the other port? Opt 11C rel 25.

no you'll need a sdi card to give you the additional i think.

i have had to use an a-b box to switch my local term when i was in the switch room before, its a hassle but cheaper then a new card.

If it's a two cabinet system connected via fiber you get a fourth TTY port from the expansion cabinet. Just a thought.

I just hooked mine up using hyperterminal, only I had to set it to 9600 baud,7 data, space parity, one stop bit, full duplex, XON

not that uncommon, 8 none and one is so close to 7 space and none that i have seen it work both ways, usually with 7 you get garbage back on an idc

Thanks a bunch, it is a three cabinet Opt 11. Was able to use 1 tty for 2 functions. Had a time set script that would run every day, once a day, to set meridian time, this came from a server I am able to remote access. So I turn the script off for the time I need to do remote access ( via Hyper terminal from the server), then turn it back on when I am finished. case closed.
