My company is in the process of converting over to an Altigen Max1000 phone system. We have one feature on our old system that is standing in the way of converting over. I am hoping someone can suggest a low cost solution.

On our current system (Alexis 2000) we have an emergency number for reporting a server down situation. The Alexis phone system takes a message and then calls the primary on call person. The system requires that you press 1 to acknowledge that you are available. If you do not press 1 or if you do not answer, then the call goes to the primary on call person's home number. Failure there goes to the secondary on call person's cell and then home. The process repeats until a live person responds to the call.

Does anyone know of a way to duplicate that feature using an Altigen system? Thanks,
Mark

Don't know if you can duplicate the feature exactly, but you could create a hunt group and assign mobile extension numbers as members. When the call comes in, callers could be connected *live* to an available person. The AltiGen will cycle through the logged-in members of the hunt group until it gets a live answer (and it can require confirmation of a live-answer by dialing 1)..

You could also, I think, take the message and use "phone notification" to notify members of the hunt group if you decide live-answer isn't for you... Basically you'd set up a virtual extension and direct notification to hunt group created above. It'll require confirmation that someone has answered before it will deliver the message.

If this is unclear, please let me know.

Thanks Chiacomo, if I setup the hunt group of cell phones, do I need to do something special to ensure it requires the live person?

There's an option under the mobile extension (and it's important that users be set up as mobile extensions) called "Press Any Key to Answer Call"... that should be checked...

Many thanks Chiacomo.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
