I am using OmniBack 3.10. I have some files that are 6 GB that OmniBack backs up with no problem. However, when I try to restore the files to a large enough filesystem, I get the following error: "Can not write: ([27] File too large)=> not restored."

The OmniBack admin guide says it can back up files of 128 GB for the operating system I am trying to restore to (AIX 4.3).

Has anyone had experience with this?

Bi,

Does the file-system, to which you are trying to restore, have support for large files enabled? Mike

Mike,

Thanks for replying. Yes, large files are enabled.

I found out late yesterday that it may be because I did not select the "Restore sparse files" option that is not a default in an OmniBack restore. I'm trying it now to see if that is the problem.

Ok, interesting -- I'd appreciate it if you could post the solution if that fixes the problem. Mike

I could restore all the data that was in the large database file. Selecting the "restore sparse files" did the trick.

ok, as simple as that, thx bi :) Mike
