I have lost Object Browser in ALL of my applications, full Office Suite, AutoCAD, IE.... I have everything else, but have lost the browser as well as the inline reference.

I would rather not have to reload my entire PC, about 4 hours of work, does anyone know where the DLL's are located that drive the interface? I have another PC that is working that I can steal from.

If you can think of what I did to mess this up....that would be welcome too. I am stumped, I have re-loaded all my applications with no correction. I am ready to send this stupid box to the deep.

Hi,

So F2 does NOTHING?

Skip,

for a NUANCE![tongue]

nope....nothing. neither does the gui button

Reload the application.

been there....done that....everything short of re-installing windows.

Pretty weak situation.

I understand how unhelpful this is, but have you tried Process Monitor? It's an application that can track all file, registry, process and service accesses. If you can run it on the other computer and filter out everything that ISN'T the object browser DLLs, you may be able to pinpoint them.

Honestly it sounds a little questionable if that will work. But if you don't want to do a fresh install, this is what I'd look into.

Why not simply repair the ms-office install ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

found the problem. And do I feel stupid [blush]! For some reason, the Object browser decided to load off screen!?! I pressed F2, Alt+Space, then moved it into the screen.

It really doesn't explain why the inline completion/pulldown wasn't working. But now everything is fine.

I hope my stupidity can help others in the future.

Please do not feel stupid! With extra monitors being connected and disconnected for all sorts of reasons, more and more often, this is becoming an increasing problem for a lot of people.

I have, for my own purposes, looked at trying to write code to identify dialogs that might appear off-screen, but it is pretty involved logic and I don't have anything approaching general purpose code working at the moment. Every time I see such a problem discussed, or have it myself, it reminds me to revisit what I have - maybe one day I'll get something working.

Enjoy,
Tony
