OLI is really set up for E911 centers so the center can get exactly the location of a call originating in a multi room/multi-floor/multi-building system. the Caller ID that is received at the other end reflects what you have programmed on the station, the 911 center then has a drawing supplied by the customer and they can pinpoint the location of the caller. a freebee is that the OLI also creates Caller ID for the rest of us.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a CICS at the office and have copper lines. OLI works on these lines. I wonder if it is a function of caller id being enabled from the lec rather than just copper trunks.
