OLEDB error 246267

The error above is appearing occasionally, does anybody know of an explanation why this is happening? It is to run an SQL query and is well within the timeout period. The error details are -
Err Number: 246267
Err Desc: Specified SQL server not found
Err Source: Microsoft OLEDB provider for SQL server
