Hallo,

Please I want Help for the following Problem which have recently arised.

I have a drawing as dwg format with material Liste in xls format. So i wanted to bring this whole Excel file into the drawing, and brought it by clicking Insert menu in autoCAD and OLE object. then without clicking the link box i just brought the xls file giving a symbol to it so that the whole xls file will be indicated as just a symbol in drawing.

then in drawing by just double clicking this symbol would activate the excel file where in we can change the contents in this xls file.then save and closing the xls file and also dwg file.

from the next time when i open the dwg file, the xls file is also activated with the last saved data.

the problem is when i wanna open this excel file directly without going into autoCAD dwg...it gets activated but i dont see the changes what i made and saved.then i opened the dwg file and opened the xls file and there i see the changes.

i dont know where this xls file is saved.this xls file is saved somewhere from autoCAD drawing, where its getting activated with new saved data only when we open the xls file from dwg.

Please any one try this and help me to find the solution.
there are also few people who dont have autoCAD installed by have the right to open the xls file.when they open directly they dont see the changes which i made from autoCAD dwg.

hopefully i understand that this question is clear to you.

thankyou,

Singoi

I think the OLE info is stored in the drawing file, and thus the Excel file contained in the AutoCAD file cannot be updated or viewed in Excel directly. ie. you MUST go through AutoCAD to get at the info the OLE Excel file contains.
