Hello All;

This is my mothers imac. The oldest model 233mhz. Anyway, she claims it turns on by itself. She shuts it down when she is done. She says it turns on all by itself in the middle of the night. She also said she called Mac help and for $49.50 they will tell her how to make it stop. Nice huh? Apparantly, there is a glitch that can be reset, or reconfigured. Even if she spent the $49.50 she doesn't have the where-with-all or the patience to go through the steps. If anyone can help me here, the next time I go over to perform some mindless task such as change a light bulb, that I as the good son am pressed into duty to perform, I can really dazzle her with this fix.

Thanks folks,

Bucky

What OS version? There should be a pre-OSX control panel that allows you to set a startup and shutdown time - - often an energy/power setting control panel. There are also OSX applications that can run in the background and set startup times (ex: ibeezz)

- - picklefish - -

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

Apple Menu > COntrol Panels > Energy Saver > Schedule > unclick Start the Computer

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
