Hi all,

Does anyone out there know the differences between the older RISC CPU cards 871/1/06796/00x normally running on 5.2 software and the newer RISC CPU cards 1HAC 50104 AAJ normally running on say 6.1 software?
The Rev. 6.1 Electronic Publication implies that the older CPU card can be set via its DIP switches to run on 6.1 software but despite trying lots of variations of the DIP switches, I just can't get 6.1 to run on the older CPU. I've tried this on four older CPU cards and get the same results on all four for a given DIP setting! I've also tried the newer firmware, from one of the newer CPU cards, on the older cards to no avail!
Help, please, anyone!!
Best regards to all,
Telecoman.

The 1HAC coded RISC cpu cards are backwards compatible with older ( 4.x/5.x ) software, but the 871/1/ coded RISC cpu's are not forward compatible to 6.x/7.x without upgrading two of the firmware eproms on the card.

The upgraded 871/1 RISC cpu cards have codes ending in 001/011/021

You don't tend to see many of these around as is was a short lived fix until the 1HAC coded boards went into production in November 1995.

To sum up:

871/1/06796/000,010,020 = dx s/ware 4.x/5.x only
871/1/06796/001,011,021 = dx s/ware 6.x/7.x ( 4.x/5.x with switch setting change )

1HAC50104AAJ,ABB,ACT = dx s/ware 6.x/7.x ( 4.x/5.x with switch setting change )

Hello pablo100,

First of all I would like to say a big thank you for your very useful help.
It seems as though I was on the right lines in trying the newer firmware from a 1HAC 50104 AAJ, just that it was the wrong firmware.
I take it that the same correct firmware will suit any of the 871/1 RISC CPU cards suffixed 000, 010 or 020, upgrading them to 001, 011 or 021 respectively?
Thanks again.
Cheers and beers,
Telecoman.

Hi all,
I'm still having problems with this one!
I've changed the two 40-pin EPROM's on a 871/1/06796/010 CPU card to those from a 871/1/06796/011 CPU and tested the card in an iSDX-S but still get the red LED on the UPI indicating software error!
Is there anything else that I need to do eg:- change the little 8-pin chip IC109? What should the DIP switch settings be?
Are the two 40-pin EPROM's the same for all the cards suffix 001, 011 and 021? - they are all the same numbers for the suffix 000, 010 and 020 cards!
The little 8-pin chips IC109 are the same number on suffix 000 and 010 cards but different on the 020 card.
Help again pleeese gentlemen!!!!?
Best regards to everyone,
Telecoman.
