Okay, help me out guys! I have a customer who is using an OLD RAD to call into an 8X24 DR5 sw KSU. He is using the Remote set tool.

Now when he pulls up the dial up screen and puts in the RAD phone number, what password does he use? There's no place in programming to change the password (RADMIN) and when you use RADMIN (723646) it boots you out and says something about rejecting password.

Now it also says (in the book) that with the OLD RADs you are required to put in a system ID number. I cannot find a system ID number in the old 8X24s to save my life! They just ain't there! Are you supposed to make something up?

Thanks in advance....

The system ID number is programmed into the RAD and has nothing to do with the KSU. i.e. if you had it connected to a MICS , it is not necessarily the SYS ID of the KSU. Once it is programmed, I don't know how to default it.

From a set on the system do a feature 9**,radmin afterwards you'll see gen alarm etc. press the soft key under gen and you'll see sys id press the soft key under change and you can change it to any ten digit number you wish until you do this it will continue to kick you out.

Actually the system ID is any number that you choose, but I think it has to be at least 8 digits to work. With old Norstar Manager, you built, or added Systems to your hard disk. The system ID was the way of knowing which file belonged to which customer for automated or scheduled backups etc.

In the old RAD, you can get to the Password at any time by doing the Feature 9** RADMIN, then go under the GEN softkey.
It will say "System ID number" Hit SHOW and the number will pop up, then you can hit CHNG etc.

What they fail to tell you is that the System ID that shows up in the RAD is actually the Password. But at least easily changed if you need to.

Kind of confusing to try to explain, so hope this made sense.

Dug through my junk and found an old RAD. The system ID field (actually password)can actually be any length from 1 to 10. It is the other system ID length in Norstar Manager that has to be 10 digits.
After the Feature 9** , you only have about 5 sec. to get the RADMIN in or it will time out.
Fastest baud rate is 9600.
