We have been on Macola since 1988. May 2005 we converted from Pervasive to SQL we still have a folder called macapps that has the old Pervasive DATA in it. We are looking to delete this folder (8 Gig) - is there any reason I am not aware of to keep it?

I would not just delete it.

Assuming that your current SQL version is running under a folder called MACSQL or the like and that nothing in your config files are pointing to this folder I would do zip it up and burn it to a dvd. Once I was sure I had the data and could restore if necessary then delete it.

Not knowing your set up or configs and the location of other applications or reports or data and what not I can not say to simply delete it.

If you do find somehting such as some crystals or other applications that fail after the delete then you can evaluate restoring them to the new location, instead of restoring the entire macapps folder.

macapps would normally be the folder shared as the m: drive and either macsql (SQL) or Macola7X (Pervasive) would be beneath it. Following an upgrade to SQL, it would be normal to delete the Macola7X (Macola70 or Macola75) folder after a period of time.

If in doubt, wait until everyone is out of Macola and rename the folder you want to delete (and leave it renamed for a couple of weeks). If no-one screams, and things work normally you can usually assume it's safe to then delete the renamed folder.

Agree with previous posts, and watch out for issues with DLL's being registered from the macola70 folder even thou you are on MacSql (example flex , crystal). No a reason to stop, but always better to know what to expect.
