Can older 3.0 files be imported or converted to the newer versions like 7.0 ? I have s users iMac that has 3.0 files and are not recognized to be opended by the installed 7.0 ?? Still running OS9 (classic on this imac). ANy suggestion ? I am rather new to FileMaker Pro. Maybe this is simple ?

According to FM Knowledge Base article 5258 you can indeed upgrade from v3 to v7.

A word or caution. The leap from v6 to v7 was huge. The file format changed and some things designed in v3 MAY not work as expected in v7. There are lots of possible gotchas in the upgrade.

FileMaker had provided a slew of White Papers on the upgrade process that you should read before you try to upgrade. Search their website and you should be able to find them.
