So I just finished an Exchange 2003 to 2010 upgrade in a small forest. Everything migrated fine. Used add/remove programs on the 2003 box to uninstall.. Got one error during uninstall since I wasn't using the correct disc. Anyhow the uninstall finished and said it was successful. The servers gone now.
Whenever I reboot my Exchange 2010 box I see errors relating to the old server and it's routing group.. So using ADSIedit, I can get down to configuration\services\microsoft exchange\my company\administrative groups\ -- there I can see my new 2010 group "Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLTY) and I can see my old 2003 server mail1.
I've read numerous articles that say I shouldn't manually remove my old 2003 group (mail1) manually here. Is this safe to delete? I can't figure out why it'd still be there, nothing on that server is being used at all anymore.
Anyone got some advice for me that's been here before after an upgrade from 2003 to 2010?
