Hi, i have an old intel 133, i installed a 4 gig hard drive. When i fdisk'd it would only let me use 1.57 gigs... I am wondering if anyone knew how to resolve this problem so i can get the rest of the space back.
thanks.

1. Did you enable large disk support when you fdisked? (if you didn't, it would create a Fat16, not a Fat32 partition - max size 2GB (1.57 is a bit odd - is that after installing an operating system)?

2. Unlikely - but 2.1GB was a mobo/bios limitation on old boards. If this is case, see if bios upgrade available. If not you'd need either a controller card or use overlay software to use the full 4GB.

Did you enable a large disk support. If you did and never got the 4gigs then they must have been bad sectors existing in your hdd.So try to format it again. If the same problem probably you will not recover the remaining portion of your hdd.
