I'm currently working through a book that was published in 1986 and some of the commands are now defunct.

I was wondering what the a.out command for running a function is now?

Hi,

As far as I know, a.out is not a command. You will get this executable if you compile (cc) a .c program. Then, if you type it it will execute your compiled C code. You can change that name to something else like , runit.exe. When you type that, it will execute the code you compiled. Everytime you recompile your code, it will overwrite that a.out with the new executable.

Hope that helps.
