Not sure if this is the right forum?
I was trying to run scripts on several clients and got suggestion to run:
Computer Management then -> Action menu -> Connect to another computer...
I am running this from my Win7 Pro PC.
I drilled down so it would show all computers. There are 140. I can see several computers that various user have had over the last ~6 years such as XP, Vista and laptops and finally their current machine.
Is there a way to delete the old machines? And where is this list at anyway? Or I suppose it’s not hurting anything? We have slowness on our network so I want to look at everything. If there are a bunch of obsolete machines dismantled and long gone why have them in a list?
If I go to the 2003 server, into DHCP and click “Address Leases” it shows a much shorter list and the old machines are not there.

Do you have a WINS server on your network? Have you checked DNS to see if you stil have old (ie stale) host records showing. One of these two would mostly likely be the cause of extensive browse list of 140 devices.

newbie here, how do I check for WINS? we have only the one server? and DNS how?
