Hi,

There is a computer at work that has a picture apear as the background on startup although this picture is not set as the wallpaper. I can't get rid of this by changing the wallpaper.

I've seen this before on Windows 2000 but never figured out how to fix it.

Please help.

Is "Active Desktop" enabled? If so then the walpaper you see at boot is the real walpaper and what you see after is controlled by Active Desktop. I would suggest turning that off and see if the "boot walpaper" comes back.

Right-click an empty area of your Desktop.
Properties.
Desktop tab.
Select as background "None"
Click 'Apply' twice (yes twice)
Click OK

And if using the registry editor is something you are comfortable with: thread616-853314
