Hopefully someone out there has a definitive answer to this.

I have a site that has run for years with 3.6 and old phones on it with no problems whatsoever. The hard drive finally packed it in and was replaced on the weekend with a Nortel 3.6 replacement. System came back up fine except that now the really old 7208s (Release 16 and lower) have a severe distortion issue. You pretty much can't even talk on them and forget about paging with them. I have the system patched up to the latest SU4 for 3.6 and have even changed the BFT on spec but no change. If I put in a higher release set, it works fine. I know I can resolve the issue by replacing the sets but does anyone know why they would work before the disk replacement but not now?

Another funny issue with this one was when I replaced the drive, I initialized it with the Global profile and when the system came back up, all the sets were displaying in spanish and even some of the words in the UM are in spanish, like under restrictions, instead of night it says noche but when I look at the monitor it says the profile is Universal.

It has an old DSM32 module in there too. The one without the country profile download switch pack. Should that be replaced or maybe the system re-initialized using a country profile instead of Global.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting my butt kicked by the customer on this one.

If your in the USA, you should have used Etiquette instaed of global, thats why you getting those weird things.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Not in the US but just a bit North.

I don't recall seeing Etiquette as a choice though. There was just the usual stuff. U.S., Canada, CALA, Global etc. and the I&M manual says to select Global.

Maybe I'll try it again and see if that option is there. AN
ny thoughts on that module or why they've always worked in the past?

1 was US Etiquette
2 was Canada
3 was UK
4 was Global
5 was CALA
6 was NONE

If you are North of the U.S.A. border than you should be using the CT2 Plus upload to your MSC card.
