OLAP server registration

Hi,

Currently, I have newly installed SQL server 2000 with SP3 and AS 2000 on Win 2003 server. When I run AS 2000 and try to register a local server, the follow message pops-up.

"Cannot connect to the repository

Analysis serverEV01

Error:
Cannot open a database created with a previous version of your application".

I checked the connection string and it said

"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin\msmdrep.mdb"

Does anyone know what's wrong? Any advice is cool.

Hi,

When you first install AS 2000, its repository is the Access DB at the location specified in your connection string. Typically, you want to migrate the repository to a SQL DB for growth reasons.

In your case, it sounds like you have two versions of AS going. Did you have SQL 7.0 installed on this server before?
