OLAP Scenario Help

Hi,

I am a newbie to OLAP and I am in the process of building my first cube. The scenario I am having an issue with is that I have Orders that can change status up to a month past when the order was placed. I move all of my data to a staging table then populate the cube using surrogate keys. My problem is that once loaded it is very difficult for me to go back to that order in the cube/star schema and update the status.

Any thoughts/comments on how to handle this situation would be very much appreciated. I am still in design, but some what stumped on how to handle this.

Thanks,
MG

One solution would be to use a separate eventtable to store the orderstatus. In the design you can then fetch the active status from that eventtable.

(I don't suppose that you actually want to modify the cube data directly?)
