Has anyone used this yet? I am especially interested in knowing if when using COGNOS PowerPlay it is possible to save the data being returned by the MicroStrategy query (via OLAP Provider) to a 'local' PowerPlay Cube. The objective here is to get a local cube populated from the MicroStrategy DW without a network connection, except when you need to refresh the cube.

OLAP Provider uses the OLEDB for OLAP (ODBO) API to support Powerplay. Since Powerplay does not allow users to save any ODBO data, either from SQL Server or MicroStrategy, as local cube data, what you are asking is not possible until Powerplay makes it possible.
On a side note, it is possible to save the MicroStrategy report as a regular cognos report. It will connect when you open the report again.
