Hi

I have just installed sql - olap server and have tried to create my first cube via the Tutorial (Via
SQL Server)- when I try to Process the cube, I get the following error.
I am able to create Dimenstions and Measures etc but not actuall process the cube.
(Similar Errors occur when I try running the Test Data FoodMart)

OLAP Server Error: File error [during Open operation] 'The process cannot access the file because it
is being used by another process. ' ; Time:7/06/2001 11:11:01

No one else is using this programe.

I have tried making the cube writeable and checked that my roles are set as read /write
Can anyone help me with this - I would really appreciate it

Regards

Anthony

Hi Anthony !
I am not sure I am hitting the problem but here are some directions to investigate...

Did you reboot you computer after sp3 installation?
Did you do something on FoodMart db before you installed SP3?
It is important because sp3 does some kind of security upgrade to the existing databases. Sometimes this process fails and the db is damaged after that...

Did you reboot you computer after you added your user to the OLAP administrators(immediately after and not after doing some work!) In this case - if you didn't do this - you should have to go manually and change the convenient olap database files access permissions...Or just deleting you OLAP Database,

Sometimes it is good to uninstall the OLAP, deleting manuall it's directory in Program files(rigth after the uninstall) and to reinstall all from the beginning and make the restart in all the places where it is required.

Right after the installation - don't open the management console but add your user to the olap administrator group in your workstation and make the reboot again!

I hope, it will give you some directions....
My best regards, Issahar

P.S.
One more verification:
check if the C:\Program Files\OLAP Services\bin directory is the shared directory as msolaprepository$!!!
