I just removed Office2003 Beta and reinstalled Office 2002. Now, when I try to send/receive in Outlook 2002 I immediately get the error message "the operation failed". When I send a test message in the Email accounts set-up screen it sends successfully and I can find it via my web browser (it is yahoo mail).

I know it is something really simple but its late and I'm getting frustrated.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

i have had the same problem, but managed to resolve it by doing the following:

first of all, in outlook, go to "help" and then click "detect and repair".
check the box for "discard my customized settings and restore default settings"

let office do its thing (note: you might need the office CD/ install files)

then, (re)start outlook and go through the outlook wizard of
recreating your email accounts.
voila... it should now be working.

basically, this is just what the below microsoft article recommends. the first time i did this, it didn't work. seems the 'restore default settings' is what did the trick.
