I have sometimes seen that some users on my site who have Office 2000 Standard installed, when they try and share a folder with their colleagues they cannot due to the sharing subfolder (File-->sharing) being greyed out. I have loaded service packs and installed all additional components for Outlook.

Can anybody help me? I have trawled through the MS KB but have found nothing that applies to me as there are no error messages and "greyed out" doesn't get any hits"...

What exactly are you trying to share? Some folders can not be shared such as Inbox, Calender and probably some others (maybe contacts? - I'd have to look it up).

Well my point is that the sharing folder has none of those options available...it's not that the sharing won't work really it's that the option to even begin sharing is greyed out.

I am trying to share a distribution list, not that it should metter really :D

First, I need to correct my statement above. After a little looking, Inbox is about the only thing that can't be shared - contacts & address book can be shared.

Now, a little more info about your setup may be required. When you say "the sharing folder" is this a shared folder on an Exchange server or a folder in the pst file that's already shared? I'm not sure that you can share a distribution list by itself, but you should be able to share the folder that it's in.

On the client, there is a menus called "File" right, under that is "Sharing" and that then has a submenu..... the itmes within that are greyed out. THAT is the problem I am having...

You can share a distribution list within the contacts folder.

Hmmm..Is the Net Folders add-in selected under Tools, Options, Other tab, Advanced Options button, Add-In Manager button?

Yes. They all are... that's the odd thing.
