AVG is all I use now. Haven't had any stability problems because of it. In fact it picked up a virus that I had on my computer for years and didn't know about it. iSeriesCodePoet

I've used McAfee, Avast32, and AVG. So far AVG is the best one. It caught a virus the other day that tried to install itself from a website and stopped it cold. When I did a scan it found the webpage with it in the Temporary Internet folders and deleted it. It updates itself and scans every morning, checks all incoming and outgoing e-mails, etc.
I'm going to swear a little in church so hold on. For home use I would recommend Panda Titanium. Works great, updates frequently and doesn't affect your machines performance so much.
I base this recommendation on a test that one of my more eager friends did. He simply downloaded all the free 30-days versions available and put them through a series of tests. Panda was the winner.
I've also tried quite a few of the programs for company usage, including Panda, NAI/Mcafee, Trend, Norton/Symantec and F-secure.
A few new things:I install norton a few days ago and it works ok (maybe?) but i didn't like the idea of taking over my computer, is just to intrusive, is always on your face, and is very dramatic. and has some trouble updating.
So i decide to try Mcafee professional, i was very happy,
is a handsome program that make you quite feel secure , without kiking you out of your pc. so far very happy, till today...
I decide to take a final test and i went to Rav antivirus online wich is acctually very good is better than Trend micro (personal experience) AND FOUND 2 VIRUSTROJANS! win32justin
and a spy virus. Disapointment. I turn off my computer and went to do something else. Iam back on my laptop again and when i turn it on, the logo of macafee poping up to make you feel that you are protected anoyed me.
I realize now that involuntary iam becoming some sort of a tester aswell like Eyas friend and Eyas itself.
Not my intention, the only thing iam looking for is a nice service that works fine and let you do your job aswell.
I will definitly try panda and avg now and i mean it now because i still have some viruses on my laptop that mcafee doesnt even suspect about it.
Thank you very much for all the advises and they are always welcome.
At home, I use AVG, check updates everyday and scan every night. It's caught a few virus's but none lately.
At work, we use McAfee Active Virus Defense including ePolicy Orchestrator to control updates and make sure the same policies are in tact on every machine.
So far so good in both cases. McAfee seems to be a resource hog when running active virus defense on older machines.
In December, McAfee caught 2267 virus's files so we can't afford to be without it.
