Problem:

The old cable type we used had a resistance of 3.5Ω on a 3m length. The new one we've been trying to use has a resistance of 0.7Ω per 3m length.

Question(s):

What kind of resistance threshold would be ideal for connecting DSL or T1 from wall to router?

Why would this difference in resistance stop things working?
It's not just line connection it has effected, extension connection also fails with this new cable.

Would appreciate as much info as possible on this, more for my won curiosity than anything else. Thank you!

Gently does it. If gently doesn't do it, smash it with the hammer.

If you don't get your answer here, go to cabl.com, create a profile (takes a minute) and post this there. They are specialized with this sort of stuff. Thanks.

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!

What kind of cable or wiring is the existing stuff, and what are you using to replace it? Is this on the phone line or telco side or the LAN side?
