I am trying to build an offline cube in Excel 2000 from a relational database (Sybase accessed using System 11 ODBC driver).

An error is returned when the wizard is about to launch the creation of the offline cube: "Initialization of data source failed...". I have no problem using non-OLAP queries within Excel 2000 and with the same database (pivottables, ...).

It is not clear to me if the source database is supposed to speak OLAP or not. From the help file it seems that any relational database would do the job.

Thanks a lot for help! [sig][/sig]

I'm not sure, but I think that it will need to use an ODBO (OLE-DB for OLAP) driver. It is likely to be using features of SQL Server OLAP Services. [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href= home</a><br> [/sig]
