OffLine files

If someone knows a link to this answer, let me know.

I have a laptop with an offline folders. At my desk in our corporate office, I have no problems accessing files in this folder. When I go to one of my field offices that is connected back to the corporate office through a VPN connection when I try to access my files, it takes anywhere 30 - 60 seconds to pull up the file.

Is there anyway of telling my computer that I am not in the corporate office so it will use the Offline files?

I am running XP Pro Service Pack 3.
