Currently our laptop users keep their documents on their local machine. When they log into the network, a 3rd party program copies any changes to a backup location on the server. (to their personal folder, basically)

Is there a way to do this with Group Policy? Or do we have to switch to doing the offline files method. (which, from what I understand, is the other way around. The primary is on the server and it makes a copy to your laptop for working offline)

Does anyone use offline files with Group Policy? Is my assumption about how it works correct?

If we can help it, we'd prefer not to change the way it behaves in the eyes of the user.
