Hi,

When I access a menu item, such as 'Format/Font' I notice Word initiates considerable network traffic. When I'm on a VPN connection it can be 10-15 seconds before the font dialog appears. This kind of behavior happens with other menu selections and seems to happen with most Microsoft apps. I don't know if this is related, but I have Microsoft Team Folders installed. In a related behavior, Outlook used to notify me as soon as email arrived...now it only notifies when other network activity takes place. Or I send an email. I seem to remember a bug with VB years ago, but I'm running w2k and Office2k.

I have Norton installed and have checked for viruses. One guess I have is that the apps are looking to the network for resources such as Normal.dot, but as far as I can tell everything looks OK.

Any ideas are appreciated.
