Greetings

In our environment, patching Office (97, 2k, and XP) is a messy business. This is because many times when we are testing a package for an office patch, the office setup will prompt for an installation source (whether it is a CD, or ADMIN source).

Has anyone been able to successfully negate this result, and if so how?

We really do not want to user to ever interact with a patch process.

msi can have up to 26 different sources (so if it doesnt see the 1st one it looks at the 2nd, 3rd etc.

Here is a link to allow you to add to you install locations

or here is how you add them in the 1st place:

to install an MSI file named Myfile.msi, specify the following command line:
“msiexec.exe /I \\myserver\share\myfile.msi SOURCELIST=”\\Distsvr1\myfile\sourcefiles;\\Distsvr2\myfile\sourcefiles;\\distsvr3\myfile\sourcefiles”

as you see you just keep on adding by ; followed by the path

hope that helps!
