I upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007 Enterprise. When I try to open Word, Excel or Powerpoint, nothing happens... no error message, no action at all. I tried opening old .xls and .doc file but nothing happens.

I removed and reinstalled Office. Still have the same problem. My system meets all requirements. I ran the diagnostic tool, but there are zero errors. Any ideas? Diagnostic suggestions?

Go to the Office 12 Folder under Program Files and find WINWORD.EXE. Right click on it and choose Run as Administrator. Does that work?

If not, run Task Manager to see if the winword.exe process is running.

I am logged in as Admin when trying to run Word and Excel. Looking at task manager while opening, the process appears for about 1-2 seconds and then disappears.

Further info: when I try to run Powerpoint it seems to start up, but I get an error message saying that PowerPoint must close. I don't even get that for Word and Excel.

Have you installed a local printer driver and set it as Windows Default? Both Word and Powerpoint need to see a local printer driver.

No, I use a network printer. Not sure about the local *driver* though. Can you walk me through it?

Word and PowerPoint definitely need a locally installed printer driver set as Windows Default. Test this by simply installing one of those that are standard on the Windows Installation disk such as the HP LaserJet 4. It doesn't matter if you don't have the printer, Word must see a printer driver to work and it needs to be set as the windows default. If you have a networked printer, especially a wireless printer, th driver may not be locally installed.
